AHH Breathing Technique

 

Whenever you feel constrained during your day and want relief, shift your focus to your breath and use this simple, powerful breathing technique.

  • Practice inhaling by breathing deeply into your body and expanding your lungs
  • Hold your breath briefly
  • Begin to release your breath as you drop your jaw with your mouth open (two fingers wide), while making the sound Ahhh
  • Feel the back of your throat open wide, which activates a sensation all the way down to the base of your spine.
  • Connect with the frustration, anger, resentment, joy or whatever you are feeling and allow it to be expressed and released through the Ahhh sound
  • Repeat: Breathe in, dropping your jaw, exhaling deeply and releasing the feelings six more times.
